Executive Assistant to VP of Corporate Communications and on-call for the Office of the Chairman, President and CEO. Worked closely with the most senior management team to provide support for Board of Directors' meetings, and regular road-trip presentations to various conferences, symposiums and institutional investment groups. Corporate Communications provided both internal and external information services. Internal resources were used to publish an in-house newsletter and to manage the corporate United Way campaign and numerous other community involvement commitments. Externally, the department was charged with providing shareholder information, and managing the extensive reporting requirements of an SEC reporting public company. American Medical Security became an independent, publicly-traded company following a spin-off with WI Blue Cross/Blue Shield and later was acquired by PacifiCare, which was followed within a year by the acquisition of the combined company by UnitedHealth. During the two acquisition periods I provided Executive level assistance to new upper management and liaison staff from PacifiCare and UnitedHealth's Golden Rule subsidiary, and continued support of the AMS Legal and HR teams during the transitions.

Provided administrative support to the sales teams and management of a long-established family-owned Oriental Rug business. The business had a flagship store location and warehousing, shipping and cleaning plant facilities in Evanston, IL. Subsidiaries of the corporation had contracts to provide rug sales through Marshall Fields stores, managed a sales location in The Drake Hotel in Chicago, and had contracts to manufacture and sell replicas of rugs and other textiles with The Vatican Museums and The Art Institute of Chicago. The creation of those replicas took place through agreements with producers in Romania, Tibet and other Asian countries.

Evanston, Illinois

Vogelback Computing Center staff member, original staff member of on-campus microcomputer store and support center.I began working at Vogelback as Operations Support, running data loading jobs and managing outputs back to the requesters. Services were provided to students, faculty and staff alike. As the Tape Librarian I was responsible for a large magnetic data tape storage and maintenance area within the Operations Center. And later as part of the office administration staff I was responsible for completing delivery of operating system software developed by the Vogelback staff for use on CRAY mainframes in use around the world at universities, research facilities and DARPA sites. When microcomputers were introduced and became available through consortium agreements I became the manager of the campus on-site Microcomputer Support Center, managing the fulfillment agreements signed by the university, the budgeting and financial planning to make it work, and the scheduling of approximately 40 work study students who worked the sales room and a microcomputer lab that was set up with machines for their use.
