I have been tutoring in various capacities since high school and have since worked with various tutoring centers, agencies, and directly with students. I’m constantly looking to improve my services and network with fellow teachers! After volunteering as a tutor during my high school and college years, then feeling underpaid and burned out as a certified full-time classroom teacher for a few years, I decided to teach more independently in '17 and am loving it so far! I am passionate about having work that is flexible, nourishing, and community-focused.Currently, I tutor both privately ($40-$150/hr) and with referral agencies (Take Note Tutoring ($50-$90/hr since 10/17) and MAIA Education ($60/hr since 2/19). I teach students online, one-on-one, and in small groups within their homes, neighborhood libraries, and tutoring centers (Huntington $14/hr in 2016, now $19 and The Tutoring Center of Bluffton for $20 as a Head Instructor). I am starting to do online work with BookNook ($18/hr) and in-person local substituting with ESS Substitute Teaching ($15/hr). Before moving to Bluffton, SC in 2021, I supported students and the community in the Bronx in various ways. For Summer 2022, I taught a summer program with the Beaufort County School District in Bluffton ($25/hr for 4 hours, 4 days a week) in collaboration with Bluffton Community Soup Kitchen. Ranging from 4-100 hours a month, I tutored at this center with students of all ages. My specialties include working with Spanish-speaking families, supporting students behind grade level, math/reading/writing/studying skills, specialized high school/college entrance examinations, and training fellow teachers on Huntington's curriculum.($15.50 - $21 per hour with a ~.50 raise per year and 401K options) Probably my biggest (pre-pandemic) perk, though, was that I got to work with such interesting people from diverse backgrounds after meeting with my mom who lived nearby and ordering my favorite eggplant sandwich from Ann Clair's Salumeria across the street. The newest perk was that I got to continue to tutor with them remotely from 2020 which I continued to do even after moving from NYC.

Morgan- PS 59 The Community School Of Technology Brooklyn:- John Ericsson Middle School 126I then substituted with a neighborhood charter school and a private school that aren't in the typical DoE SubCentral system - Amber Charter School ($20/hr. $140 per diem 12/18-03/20) and Ethical Culture Fieldston School ($175 per diem 03/19-03/20). Sub-roles ranged from all K-12 subjects to extracurriculars such as music and Spanish. I also partnered with Amber Charter School (Kingsbridge Elementary in the Bronx) to tutor 3rd-graders in math twice a week with focused small-group interventions throughout the day.

FYI Generally this poll working role includes 4 hours in the Grand Concourse, a 20 point open book multiple choice test, and then working the election day from 5am to 11pm. Over a year after updating my profile with my experience here, I was randomly called and emailed to change what I wrote here because it was not "in compliance" with Primerica.According to the internet policies of Primerica's Advertising Handbook: All representatives are prohibited from using social media to "Misrepresent the Primerica opportunity as employment or a job"So I won't... though I do not represent them anymore. This experience taught me not to trust financial advice from almost anyone, especially from anyone who is not a fiduciary. I was able to learn more about life insurance, stock market investing, and how MLMs can strain family relationships.

During Match Next's pilot year, I taught 5th-grade math and reading through our blended learning model which included daily direct instruction in small groups of 1 - 6 students utilizing various educational tech to support a student-centered curriculum. Our work there was massive and incredible. My dear hard-working 5th graders scored in the top in the state for growth and absolute measures in math. For the summer, I welcomed the incoming 5th graders for Match Next Summer Academy through sessions on our strong school culture and math skills. After completing 2 weeks of training (focused on pedagogy, Argentina culture, and English language learning) provided by Connecting Schools to the World and ABS International in Buenos Aires, I supported Instituto Stratford in Misiones as the resident native English speaker during the March to July semester as I studied to become more fluent in Spanish. My classes included those ranging from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels of A1 to C2. Specifically, my weekly schedule included planning and/or supporting secondary students: a one on one PET class, a first year FCE class, an advanced FCE class; as well as mixed age / adult students: pre-intermediate professionals, upper-intermediate professionals, and the institute's Advanced CAE class. Apart from my classes, I supported the institute as the 'human dictionary' and through speaking/listening activities with all classes. Working at A&J's (currently a Foodtown) was my first job at 16 years old. It was across the street from my house and specialized in Italian food imports. I walked in, asked if they were hiring, and started the next day. It became my second home besides high school. Johnny at the deli made me the best sandwiches and (further) inspired me to learn Spanish as an adult as he learned English as an immigrant from Italy. I learned about persimmons, kale, and broccoli rabe for the first time there. Good times. Side note: I saved all of my first few months of minimum wage paychecks ($6 - $6.75/hr) to buy a roundtrip flight to Guayaquil, Ecuador - twice - and it was very worth it.
