This was my high school job. Although I am not looking to continue to study or work in the restaurant business, I gained an incredible amount of knowledge while working here. I began making salads and as time progressed I was promoted to a full-time cook and (if needed) a waitress. As the promotions began so did the responsibilities and opportunities I gained. I learned great communication and organization skills by taking inventory of our products and then calling and making the order to the appropriate company to restock what was needed, I set up meetings with local broadcasters to either write articles or film our restaurant for the news, And I currently run the restaurants Instagram page which takes a lot of dedication and attention to detail- I need to ensure that the feed looks interesting, coherent, and pleasing. As a young adult these skills are so important to have knowledge on before entering college and the field in general- this small business job truly prepared me by giving me skills in patience, communication, organization, and marketing.
