About Lillian Kivel

After seven years in communications and marketing within education, I earned my Master's Degree in Education Policy to play a more active role in addressing inequalities and inefficiencies within our educational systems. While at the University of Pennsylvania I developed a deeper understanding of past and current reform efforts and shortcoming in implementation efforts. I strengthened my quantitative skills to evaluate the impact of policies and the return on investment. As of July 2022, I have joined the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) in the Office of the Superintendent. As SDP welcomes a new Superintendent and develops a strategic plan in alignment with his vision, I will be focused on district-wide improvement efforts. I will be supporting continuous improvement processes and reporting around implementation of programs related to the Board of Education's Goals and Guardrails. Before graduate school, my experiences at Minerva University afforded me the opportunity to actively shape and create communications and marketing campaigns to inspire students around the world to rethink their university experience. From presenting to students in the US, Japan, Korea, and Israel to designing our admitted students weekend, I learned to embrace the unexpected and celebrate creative problem solving. Ultimately overseeing campaigns that drove more than 25,000 annual applicants and an admitted student yield of over 67%, I was honored to play my part in growing the institution and supporting students in finding their dream university.
