The Resident Adviser (RA) is a paraprofessional student staff member for Housing and Residential Experience within the division of Student Affairs at Vanderbilt University. RAs assume responsibility for fostering an environment in which all students are supported in pursuing their academic and personal development. RAs work closely with Area Coordinators, Graduate Area Coordinators, Head Residents, and, in many cases, Residential Faculty to build residential communities which promote care, safety, and belonging. RAs cultivate community by engaging in meaningful conversations, by creating and executing educational and social programming, and by serving as a campus resource to their residents and to the larger campus community.
