I administered both quantitative and qualitative assessments, as well as suicide risk protocols for those students who endorsed suicidal ideation on the PHQ-9.I also assisted in the development of clinical training for school-based clinicians in the Seattle area and supported data collection of pre/post assessments for those clinicians by assembling and distributing materials (such as tablet computers), giving tech support, and helping clinicians upload sessions to Amazon S3. I facilitated communication between patients, providers and family members as a medical interpreter. On the most basic level, I interpreted between Spanish and English, but I also served as a bridge for understanding between cultures. For example, many patients from other countries are upset upon reading standard release of liability/explanation of risk documents before getting a surgery. I helped explain the cultural differences and the practice of signing such documents, while validating their understandable fear. I also performed sight translations of written documents and helped patients navigate the Worker's Compensation and Labor & Industries system. I ended up leaving the field after a few months because I realized it is essential for me to work as a part of a team, and I had no consistent coworkers while interpreting because I moved between several sites every day.
