• Cloned, expressed, and optimized numerous VEGFR-Fc fusion proteins for their ability to bind and sequester VEGF. Generated in vitro data sets that led to selection of the “VEGF Trap” therapeutic, currently approved for use in wet AMD patients (EYLEA®) and metastatic colorectal cancer patients (ZALTRAP®).• Developed an in vitro Matrigel assay to predict pharmacokinetic attributes of drugs. Demonstrated assay correlated with in vivo data, significantly accelerating development of the VEGF Trap therapeutic.• Elucidated angiogenesis pathways, primarily the Angiopoietin/TIE and VEGF/VEGFR ligand-receptor complexes. Designed modular Angiopoietins to study how multi-merization states affect TIE2 signaling. • Utilized RNAi to knock down expression of proteins of interest and study their role in TIE2 signaling.• Constructed tissue and cell line-specific cDNA libraries.
