As a Hostess at Uptown Café, I memorized all of the table seatings and which were open and which were occupied. I would greet the customers who walked into the building, seat them in a timely manner while answering any questions they may have had before their server reached the table. Once a table would leave, I was in charge of marking it and letting waiters know (if there were people waiting for a table) that a table would be available soon.
