Movement Communications Intern And National Spokesperson (Roadie)Invisible Children Inc. Jan 2012 - Dec 2012San Diego, CaliforniaDuring my first semester at Invisible Children, as a Movement Communications Intern, I was responsible for upholding relationships with supporters of the organization, as well as fostering new relationships and continuing to build the support network. Through those relationships, I was responsible for booking educational presentations for the New England region. Shortly after I was hired, the organization released a video that quickly became the most viral video in the history of the internet. I then took on multiples roles at a time as our organization tried to keep our head above water. I handled costumer service calls and emails, I helped the shipping department process thousands of returns and I remained the point of contact for our supporters. After my first semester, I was invited back for a second semester in the role of a National Spokesperson. During this semester, I was asked to plan Invisible Children's most ambitious tour. I worked closely on a cross-cultural team of four to book, promote, and implement this speaking tour for the "middle America" region. I traveled the country in order to share the story of the Lords Resistance Army and the longest running conflict in Africa, and to use face to face connection in order to build relationships for the organization. A long the way, I mobilized hundreds of youth, local political leaders, as well as high level representatives from the US, UN, EU, AU, International Criminal Court (ICC), and multiple countries in Central and East Africa, to attend a large event (10,000 people in attendance) in Washington, DC to discuss the issue of the Lords Resistance Army.
