Peptide Related Drug Discovery: Designed and synthesized a series of Somatostatin peptide analogs using solution and solid-phase method. Characterized peptide and peptide derivatives by HPLC and MS. Studied their bioactivities and evaluated their structure and activity relationship.

Organic Synthesis and Photochemistry: Modified fluoroprobes via multi-step organic synthesis, and linked the fluoroprobes to peptides. Investigated the photo labile properties of the linkage between fluorophore and peptide. Studied the electron transfer reaction along the labeled-peptides using UV absorption, phase-shift fluorometry and laser flash photolysis.2D-NMR: Evaluated peptide conformations and identified photoproduct structures using 2D-NMR techniques.
