As a History and Communication student at Baylor University, I live the dream and pursue my two passions daily. I am grateful to study topics I enjoy so much, and I understand that these subjects genuinely make a difference in the world around me. Our world relies on communication, and Baylor's Rhetoric and Public Discourse program has prepared me to be a competent, compassionate, and clear communicator. Classes such as Interpersonal Communication, Advanced Public Speaking, and Legal Communication have strengthened my audience analysis and marketing skills. Some of the coolest things I have learned as a communication major include how to give a ten-minute speech with no notes and how attractiveness wins elections. History is more than a fun hobby for me. It has grown my global mindset and helped me to understand the lives of diverse people and new places. I am forever thankful that Baylor's Department of History has taught me how to be sensitive to different cultures and experiences while understanding the power I possess in my own time and place. My love for history led me to work at the Dr Pepper Museum, where I was privileged to learn the riveting past behind Texas' favorite soda. I currently work at the Texas Collection at Baylor University, where I have learned archival organization and database management. I plan to continue my education at Baylor Law School, where I currently have a full-tuition-paid scholarship that I received upon my undergraduate acceptance to Baylor University.
