As an Accommodation Based Support Worker, I was posted at a base on the Maninplace Estate which offers emergency, short term and long term residency to people who find themselves homeless. Within the supported accommodation scheme, I managed a case load of service users who were accommodated by Maninplace and who have some level of support need in order to maintain a tenancy. Supporting service users on a day to day basis through office based support, referrals and signposting into services within the community, I worked to achieve positive outcomes, and ultimately maximise a sense of wellbeing.I also acted as a Homelessness Engagement Worker working at the walk in centre open to individuals who found themselves homeless (rough sleeping, street homeless, sofa surfing or facing imminent eviction). I was one of the first points of contact for individuals trying to resolve their housing situation and I worked to register them with our services, assess their needs and create a personalised housing plan in order to achieve a point of stability for the individual. Both strands of my work within Maninplace involved the provision of advice, guidance, advocacy and signposting to external agencies and services such as mental health, addiction services and health and social care professionals.
