I’m the CEO and Founder of climate tech startup One Small Step. We focus on demand-side climate change mitigation, an under-addressed piece of the puzzle in preventing runaway global warming. I work with a broad range of climate-conscious organisations - businesses, councils, NGOs and universities - to help build and scale their engagement and behaviour change programs for carbon impact using digital tools.To avoid catastrophic global temperature increases, pro-environmental behaviour change in high-consumption societies still has to occur, and my software already helps achieve this. One Small Step has helped tens of thousands of users reduce over 8000 tonnes of carbon emissions using behavioural science. The One Small Step platform reliably delivers hard-to-reduce lifestyle emission reductions at scale. We’ve had 70,000+ downloads (in the Australian market where 2500 book sales is considered a best-seller). Our mobile app was the only one of its kind to be consistently 5-star rated and be featured by Apple. The average user reduces annual greenhouse gas emissions by a tonne and is able to save over $4000 a year (for context, Australia's carbon price achieved a reduction of 1.4% at an increased cost to each household). I have a proven capacity to work extremely lean, build sophisticated and highly rated digital products while achieving an outsized environmental impact.I'm a dedicated climate activist, having worked in the environmental movement for a decade, and a behavioural economics geek, with an interdisciplinary background in law, social science, public policy, economics, engineering and renewable energy technology.I’m also one of Holon IQ’s 100 Women in Climate Tech, a Foundation for Young Australians Young Social Pioneer, a 2021 Vogue Codes Future Innovator and an alumnus of Startmate (Australia’s top-ranked accelerator program for tech startups), SheStarts, and most recently Andrew Chen’s Reforge program. One Small Step was a finalist in the 2022 Finder’s Green Innovation of the Year Category and a finalist for Climate Tech Newcomer in 2021. I previously worked in the Australian Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet as a policy analyst in the Strategy and Delivery Division and Australian national advocacy group GetUp as their Market Impact Director, running consumer campaigns to support decarbonization and grassroots climate action. I love supporting people and groups interested in mobilizing their audience and communities to drive real climate action - which means systemic changes with a measurable impact on decarbonization.
