I provide responsive, trauma-informed service to library patrons with diverse needs and collaborate with library staff to create welcoming, inclusive, and safe spaces for all community members. Together we offer a wide variety of programs that address the downtown Minneapolis community's needs and interests, often through partnerships with community organizations. One of the most joyful parts of this role is planning and delivering storytimes that are fun, literacy-rich, build community, empower caregivers, and highlight books that reflect our diverse library community.

During the 2021-22 school year I taught a bi-weekly class that covered the Hebrew alphabet, beginning Hebrew reading skills, prayer concepts, and core Jewish values. Outside of class time, I offered "Hebrew Boost" sessions for individual students and small groups interested in additional language practice.For the 2022-23 school year, I taught both Hebrew and Judaic Studies, creating weekly lessons around Jewish texts, customs, and ideas. I worked with a team of 5 teen classroom helpers and an assistant teacher to meet the diverse learning needs of our class.I continue to offer individual Hebrew language tutoring to elementary-aged students in the community, sub as a teacher very occasionally, and have assisted the school's librarian in weeding children's materials.

I engaged in a wide variety of activities to support the Riesenfeld Rare Books Research Center, including outreach, archival description, digitization, exhibit planning, and acquisitions. I worked to make our archival collections more broadly accessible, processing 15 small collections and publishing finding aids on Archivesspace, the first at the Law Library to be made available online.

I pitched in on metadata and information organization tasks to ensure access to and searchability of the Civil Rights & Restorative Justice project's digital archive, which documents historical anti-Black violence and failures in the criminal justice system in the Jim Crow South.

I oversaw library operations two nights a week, which involved managing student workers and assisting patrons at the circulation desk and throughout the building. Many library services changed for the 2020-21 school year to maintain a safe environment during the pandemic. I answered questions that came up about these changes and ensured that students, staff, and faculty followed new health and safety guidelines while in the library.

In this role, I processed voter registrations for thousands of residents in the busiest election season Hennepin County has ever seen. I helped explain policies and dispel misinformation about mail-in voting, and I collaborated with our elections team to help residents in a wide variety of circumstances find the best way to cast their vote.

I assisted Snell Library's Resource and Discovery Services department with a large-scale digitization project, producing digital master and access copies of archival documents and creating metadata for digitized items following RDA and MODS standards. You can read more about my work on the project in the blog post linked below.Starting in March 2020, Northeastern shifted to remote work only, and without access to the archives and scanning equipment, I shifted my focus to other areas. I transcribed digital copies of photo company logbooks and joined my supervisor in a new captioning project. I captioned videos using CADET caption-authoring software, edited XML metadata, and helped improve our workflow and style guide.

In my second year with Simmons Online, I focused more heavily on instructional design work. I edited and tested Moodle sites, helped develop assessment tools for use in library science courses, produced tutorials and training materials for instructors and staff, and provided faculty with direct support in online course creation.

I assisted Simmons Online's instructional design team in video production, editing, and closed-captioning, as well as web-editing and research as needed, supporting the accessibility of online learning materials at Simmons.

I provided reference assistance to both in-person and remote patrons, often guiding them through the use of multiple online resources and databases. When I wasn't staffing the reading room, I was conducting an in-depth inventory of the NHA's audiovisual holdings. An exciting moment during this inventory was when I discovered that a collection of LPs thought to be vinyl were actually lacquer (acetate) discs. Towards the end of the summer I re-processed a large photographic collection, which involved rehousing thousands of negatives and prints. The updated finding aid is linked below.Beyond these main duties and projects, I helped to digitize 19th-century manuscripts, cleaned up accession records to facilitate a switch to a new database system, cataloged serials and monographs, researched and wrote social media posts for Instagram and Facebook, and assisted guests during book-signings and other events.

I assessed each item in the Seminar in Ukrainian Studies audio tape collection to prepare it for an upcoming digitization project. I updated the collection finding aid along with other internal documentation of seminar events, conducted reel-to-reel tape preservation tasks, and digitized several hours of lectures held on deteriorating audio cassettes.
