About Lily Mott
I am the founding director of Be the change. Media Network with a passion for sharing stories, amplifying unheard youth voices, and informing the public. I am committed to empowering young people as an Engagement Officer at My Life My Say, a youth-led, non-partisan movement with the mission to get every single young person voting. When protests broke out around the United States in June 2020, I created a podcast to share my account of the protests in Washington, DC. However, "Be the change." quickly developed to become a weekly podcast featuring young activists, advocates, and change makers from around the country and then around the world when I studied abroad for a year as a participant in the Mansfield College Visiting Student Programme at the University of Oxford. I returned to the UK as a Fulbright US-UK Scholar at Cardiff University to pursue an MA in Digital Media and Society and study the intersections between social media, civic participation, politics, and journalism. Now, I am expanding Be the change. Media Network in an effort to amplify more young people's voices. The network currently features 4 podcasts, one Instagram Live show, and one live radio show.
