PhD candidate and Gates Cambridge Scholar applying interdisciplinary training to investigate persistent challenges of equitable water security in an increasingly unequal and ecologically precarious world. My current research focuses on embodied experiences of toxic PFAS contamination, environmental racism, and agendas of remediation and repair in a municipal water system in upstate, NY.

Develop and implement WaterAid's key relationship strategy, with a focus on preparing individualized communication and stewardship plans for current and prospective high level supporters. This includes liaising with field staff to draft funding proposals, impact and progress reports,and a quarterly digital newsletter. For FY17 our two person team achieved 40% growth in our portfolio and a donor retention rate of 79% for high level supporters. Assist with Board engagement and provide research and communications support to the CEO. Member of the WaterAid America Steering Committee for external campaigns representing the departments of philanthropy and corporate partnerships.

Teach two sections of Science and Technological Literacy Lab to 48 undergraduate students. Develop lesson plans designed to communicate complex concepts and methodological approaches to non-science majors. Endeavor to inspire and engage students to appreciate and understand the diversity and utility of the sciences.

Worked with several departments to support the drafting, editing, and dissemination of internal and external communications including a monthly program report from the field and two policy reports focused on expert evaluations of the sanitation sector. Supported the Equity and Inclusion Advisor in Program Support Unit with project focused on reducing inequalities in WASH access and use and aided the International Programs Department carrying out filmed interviews and executing an internal communications plan to acknowledge and honor importance of WaterAid field staff.

Developed and implemented original field research in collaboration with Colombian Red Cross, focusing on qualitative and quantitative evaluation of household water access in an urban municipality along the Amazon River. This included carrying out 250+ household surveys, 16 semi-structured interviews and over 30 participatory appraisal activities entirely in Spanish. Liaised with local communities as well as senior officials in Leticia and Bogota to secure respondents, project support, and country specific permissions. Completed administrative tasks associated with research including, securing funding, budget tracking, managing field assistants and evaluating ethical and security considerations.

Assisted Education Policy Analyst researching, writing, editing, and copy-editing 3 nationally syndicated reports and 1 online toolkit for America’s Promise Alliance, CASEL, and MENTOR. This included researching and writing four district case studies in The Missing Piece: A National Teacher Survey on How Social and Emotional Learning Can Empower Children and Transform Schools. Researched and wrote two 40+ page literature and landscape reviews on social and emotional learning and youth mentoring with a focus on how programs help students succeed in school, work, and life. Collaborated with Education Policy Analyst and HART Research Associates to develop survey instruments for youth mentoring research project and managed undergraduate interns for summer 2013 program with responsibilities including, organizing bi-weekly progress reports, out-of-office events, and end of term evaluations.

I scheduled meetings with Ambassadors from Latin American and African nations to strengthen existing partnerships and foster new ties for EARTH. I planned fundraising gala at Organization of American States for over 300 guests including- Senators, Foreign and OAS Ambassadors, non-profit and business leaders- that raised over $65,000 in tickets, donations, and corporate sponsorships. I coordinated a breakfast briefing at Costa Rican Ambassador’s residence where EARTH President met with event Diplomatic Host Committee to discuss common challenges of agricultural sustainability, natural resources management, and youth education.

I served as site leader for 1 week training course on best practices for implementing high quality international service learning trips that sustainably address social justice issues in communities. I planned and facilitated weekly training sessions with Co-Director and Faculty Advisor to ensure that 22 team leaders possessed the resources and skills to fulfill the mission and vision of program. I met weekly with Student Directors to collaborate on organization wide programming, including monthly advocacy emails and coordination of campus wide presentations on social justice.
