As a marketing professional, one year into my career, I thrive on learning, teamwork, and results. Making an impact and helping people solve problems. No matter the role I play in an organization, I will always look for challenges and opportunities to learn and be a part of a dynamic team that directly contributes to the success of an organization.My nature is to be curious – to seek knowledge and understanding. I am an avid learner – being self-motivated to learn on the job or to teach myself through online training or professional classes. My persistence in problem-solving drives me to find ways to meet challenges. Nelson Mandela said, “I never lose. Either I win, or I learn,” and that quote comes to mind when I take on a challenge. I know I can always learn from success or failure. My major was in marketing – but I also challenged myself with a concentration in sales. Marketing’s end goal is to increase sales, so I had a three-month sales internship at Goodera, a software company. I landed 16 new accounts, leveraging CRM tools and direct marketing to build strong customer relations. Successful marketing must start with knowledge. Knowing your audience and understanding their interests, needs and motivators. Once you know your audience, you begin the storytelling. Great marketing is telling a story that connects emotionally with an audience. Marketing answers the “what’s in it for me?” question.In college, I had the opportunity to work on a research project with the New Orleans Saints. The business office wanted to know what drives season ticket holders, and my job was to analyze survey data. We learned about the demographic of the ticket holders, and the likelihood of them purchasing tickets again.As the Media and Outreach Manager for a non-profit, I work with colleagues to develop strategies that drive engagement on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and our website. Engagement requires connecting to the audience. The tried and true “reach and frequency” is part of our strategy. How do we reach the right audience, and what is the balance of frequency – the “just right” frequency to gain their attention? These are the problems I like to solve.
