My Professional North Star is to initiate, design, evaluate and refine ventures & products of enduring value to people.I act principally as a specialist growth partner for new and pioneering endeavors. I work in partnership to design, build, capitalize and grow high-value products and businesses. I am most proud of two professional achievements to date. First, being part of an amazing group of co-founders in London, where we built and successfully exited a world first business intelligence platform for the public relations industry. Second, identifying the need for a digital transformation agenda in public health systems strengthening (HSS), and leading the creation of the first virtual quality assurance platform, fully adopted throughout the South African public health system, with thousands of daily active users…now spreading into Africa.I am a systems thinker and conceptual creative at heart, and I always gravitate to this type of work. At the most foundational level intellectually I am a student of systems, logic and critical reasoning. My defining character traits are creativity, curiosity, a love of learning, perspective, humor, and appreciation of beauty and excellence.My work is fueled by a deep curiosity for how the world works. In my free time I consume information relating to all manner of phenomena. I am fascinated by physics, chemistry, biology, health, economics, finance, business, technology, psychology and spirituality all at the same time. I take active steps into various sub components of each of these worlds by tinkering with their tools, writing about them, discussing them, investing in them etc. Interesting opportunities are exposed by the activities themselves, but the primary motivation is always to keep my creative skills finely tuned. The closest thing we have to a reliable score for creative intelligence (of the conceptual or abstract kind) is the ability to distil the general principles underpinning a particular phenomenon, and to apply these learnings to new creative challenges. I use combinations of insights from various subjects and disciplines to solve creative challenges as a matter of course. I am confident stepping into any setting where creative challenges are being faced. I am always circumspect about what I can contribute in terms of domain specific expertise and experience, but am constantly on the lookout for possible new links in the chain, key leverage & pivot points and consequences. I feel “in flow” when exploring pathways to success, crossing disciplines in the search of creative alternatives.
