I was inspired to start Community Robotics Learning Foundation, or LearnRobots.org, because I saw a gap in the delivery of digital curriculum, where theory is over-emphasized rather than hands-on, project-based learning. When we look towards the future, particularly in STEM disciplines such as robotics, we know that hands-on learning is vital. It allows the student to both absorb and apply the greatest amount of information in the shortest time, while developing their curiosity and passion.Supported by our generous donors in the community as well as STEM-friendly organizations, we’re focused on promoting, donating to, and financing, robot fabrication and programming in a virtual context. I’m proud to share that through our work, we’ve reached a number of students from underserved communities, with impact including:● Hosted ground robotics camps at a variety of schools in Central Coast California, teaching students from grades 6-12● Delivered a multi-week camp to 40 middle school youth from the Chumash Nation, amongst many other camps● Facilitated donations and programs to feeder K-12 schools● Conceptualized and created programs for the learning of ground, aerial, submersible, humanoid, and astronomical robotics
