First and fore most, I love fashion. Ever since I was a little girl, I love playing with my mother’s beautiful clothes. When I entered middle school, I started to shop for my own clothes. I will never forget how excited I was to finally be able to enter a clothes shop and shopped myself!! I started from shopping at fast fashion brands, then towards contemporary/ better brands. I eventually entered the market of Designer brands around high school time. As a consumer, I was fascinated by how beautiful and sophisticated clothings could be. It was the first time that I realized clothings are not just clothings, it’s ART! By feeling the materials of the designer-brand clothing, and seeing how much complex work (even hand-made work) could be on a piece of garment, I knew that my passion in fashion clothings was elevated. I then decided that I need a precessional education that could show me how much work was put into behind these gorgeous high-end clothes I see in Designer shops, and who are the consumers of these shops and why would consumers pay so much for a piece of garment. This passion carried me through my education at FIDM. At FIDM, I was able to meet a numerous of people who share the same interests and passions in fashion with me. The amount of resources that was opened for me to use at FIDM was more than I ever could imagined as a regular fashion lover/ consumer. By then, my passion in fashion was no longer just a causal interest of mine, I could see that it is slowly growing into a professional knowledge/ skill that could be very useful and helpful in my future career path. During the pandemic, I returned to my home country, Taiwan, and had a chance to work as a personal assistant of the CEO of the company. The company that I worked for was not in the fashion industry but I am still appreciate that I was no longer just a student and was able to learn some professional skills in terms of organizing and communicating professional. Those skills are fore sure going to be helpful despite of any industry I might be working at in the future. As a student, I always attend to classes. I am very enthusiastic towards going to classes because I know what I am about to learn in class is always what I’m passionate about. I am also very hardworking and consistent with my work. I was able to main a GPA above 3.9 for the last 2 quarters. I have not yet graduated from my degree, but I have no doubts that this passion would remain with me when I entered the fashion industry in the future.
