I began my book career at Abrams in New York City, working for children’s publisher Howard Reeves. I worked on a wide range of illustrated books, both children’s and adult, and was privileged to work with creators such as Maurice Sendak, Tony Kushner, Lela Lee and Laurent de Brunhoff. In 2005 I moved to Sweden, where I focused on my own books full-time. I’ve had four picture books (which I wrote and illustrated) published by Scholastic and Abrams, as well as a YA novel and a nonfiction history book for teens.Several years after moving to Sweden I came to miss editing, so I took a position at Appelberg, an agency that produces editorial media for companies. There I managed a magazine, website, app and newsletters for a client. It was a creative job that I enjoyed, but I missed working with children's books. I moved to London in 2013 and have since returned to the editorial side of the children’s books industry. After two years working for Walker Books, I moved to Scholastic UK, where I was fortunate enough to work with authors such as Michael Morpurgo, Sue Wallman, Simon James Green, Vashti Hardy, Geri Halliwell-Horner, MG Leonard and Michael Rosen. In October 2023 I moved over to Puffin Books / Penguin Random House, where I am now Editorial Director in their Fiction 6+ team. Books I have edited have won numerous awards and accolades, including the Blue Peter Children's Book Prize and two nominations for the Branford Boase Award. I have taught fiction and publishing masterclasses for various groups, I was a committee member of Children's Book Circle for three years, and am a co-founder of Pride in Publishing.
