The National Service Center, NSC, serves visitors to the Swedish Migration Agency with information and the collection of applications. The staff consists maily of Case Officers who divide their time between giving service and case administration and decision-making.As a manager, I have the responsibility for personnel, budget and activities. 2017 saw the division of NSC into two units of each 25, and major organisational changes. During the first trimester of 2018 I was in charge of both units while in a period of transition to a reduced budget.

Occupational and Environmental Medicine is a speciality clinic within the public Health-care sector (Region Skåne), giving support to both care centers, occupational health services and public authorities at different levels. Cooperation with Lund University research is very close and many of the staff are also employed within the University. As a manager I was responsible for budget, activity/operation, and a staff of around 40, consisting of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, engineers, secretaries, psychologist and other health-care categories.During the first year of employment I assisted in a major organisational overhaul, with seven small units being merged into two larger ones. As a result of a new relationship with the responsible authority, I participated in the development and introduction of a new managerial structure and a matrix organisation. An important part of the work was to coordinate staff working also within Lund University, and as a result of this I designed new guide-lines on working hours.My main challange was to lead health professionals while not having a health-care back-ground/education. It was new for most staff members to take on the expert role without having an expert manager. New ways of working, with the experts taking a more senior role, were developed.During my emplyment I followed an extensive in-house leadership development programme, went through UGL-training (utveckling grupp-ledare, Swedish military leadership week-long training) and had the support of a professional coach.

EU-financed project with 37 partners in 14 countries around the World. 2005 the largest EU-sponsored project within Lund University.Internal and external communication with project partners and stakeholders (web, newsletter, etc);Secretary to project;Reporting to the European Commission;Coordination of annual mettings of the whole consortium;Initiation, execution and evaluation of epidemiological studies performed by the Dep. of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, including ethical consent applications and co-authorship of articles.I was not meant to participate in research activities, but I took the opportunity of developing my knowledge also in this field. I thoroughly enjoyed the planning and execution of the studies.
