Lina is an Educational Psychologist who has a diverse academic background in areas that include research, quantitative and qualitative studies, child and adolescent development, clinical psychology, and justice studies (human rights and workers’ rights).As an avid researcher, Lina is passionate about studying human behaviour in different environments such as the home, school, community, and workplace. From a young age, she was curious about how humans interact with one another and how their environments impact their behaviour. Her main interests these days are on the social and emotional development of children, adolescents, and adults.Her vast knowledge and experiences during her BA program prepared her for an intensive one-year accelerated Masters program with a concentration in human development. Lina focused on qualitative data and analysis by investigating low-income children's involvement in after school programs after moving from government housing to more affluent neighbourhoods.Lina started her PhD program where she gained additional knowledge and experience in quantitative analyses. This includes submitting ethics, developing surveys, conducting focus groups, collecting data through surveys and interviews both one-on-one and in groups, as well as entering, coding, and analyzing data, and then reporting and presenting the findings. The majority of her work came with the successful collaboration with peers, colleagues, and school and community stakeholders.Along with vast experiences in research, Lina also teaches post-secondary psychology courses at multiple community colleges. Her knowledge in child and adolescent development, along with years of presenting research to varying audiences, has allowed her to develop her teaching, presenting, and mentoring skills.
