My art explores the mediated experience of wartime. The work I have produced over the past decade of American conflict is unified in its desire to distill, encapsulate, and visually present the complex issues of war with equanimity. Pausing to examine the details of violent events, my work is both a personal attempt to humanize these tragedies and to combat the numbing effects of a media-saturated culture. ExhibitionThe Mcininch Art Gallery At Southern New Hampshire University Mar 2014 - Apr 2014February 27– April 5, 2014Opening Reception: Thursday, March 13, 2014 – 5 to 7 p.m.Panel Discussion: Justice and Shadow Wars – Exhibiting artists, Linda Bond; Dr. Kenneth Nivison, Associate Professor of History; Dr. Vanessa Rocco, Assistant Professor of Art History. Walker Auditorium, 5:30 pm followed by the reception.With recent drawings and installation work, Linda Bond examines the use of drones as agents of war. Her exhibition, Shadow War, is comprised of projects derived from the printed news. Scanning, reprinting, and transferring information, content is blurred and reformed. This process of transformation and assembly becomes a means of clarification. Abstraction becomes concrete. Individual elements collect in improvised or deliberate formations to create site specific installations.
