I started my own practice in 1999, in Annapolis,MD and Washington DC, USA, focusing on one-hour, one-on-one sessions,utilizing manual therapy and home programs primarily, versus seeing 20 patients a day, only having 10 minutes with each patient, which is typical in a traditional out-patient orthopedic setting. My volunteer experience locally with Hospice in the Washington DC area, as well as abroad in St. Lucia, led me to adopt the practice of never turning anyone away for treatment, regardless of their financial ability to pay. I still work this way today, although, now, in the countries outside the United States. Currently, I see primarily various pain syndromes and orthopedic caseloads, but also a few neurological and oncology patients. While living in Bosnia, I worked at the local hospital on the paraplegic and hemiplegic ward, on the burn unit, in orthopedics, and I taught orthopedics to my medical colleagues twice a week (to the therapists and doctors). Additionally, I worked with the Canton Sarajevo Cerebral Palsy Association 2 days a week, treating children with various neurological involvement, and I developed, secured funding for, and implemented a community outreach project, offering therapy services to those living in remote villages outside Sarajevo, and who often were under-served medically. In Mauritania, I again, treated primarily orthopedic problems, but also assessed and treated a whole variety of medical conditions with much less resources available to use.

Doctor's Hospital was the first hospital that I gained clinical exposure and experience, first as a volunteer, then as an aide in the Rehabilitation Department, and then hired as a staff therapist. As a licensed therapist, I worked out-patient therapy in the mornings, dealing with orthopedic and LE amputee patients, and then, in ICU and CCU in the afternoons. This was a very diverse, challenging, yet manageable caseload. I was surrounded by a team of supportive, skilled, experienced therapists, who helped mentor me in my first years of practice as a therapist.
