I’m an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist with over 20 years of experience. I have worked in both outpatient and acute hospital environments. Majority of my career has been in the specialty area of burn injuries where I have coordinated burn rehabilitation on the Johns Hopkins Burn Center. Staff development, student program, research including grant funding, multidisciplinary teamwork, performance improvement, program development, technology development and challenging patient care are some of my very rewarding responsibilities.I had the amazing experience of working at the Curtis National Hand Center where I perfected my skills in hand therapy which was instrumental in me receiving my hand therapy certification. I continue my professional relationship by continuing as a co-author in their publication of Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation: A Practical Guide, which was just released in the fourth edition.I’m truly passionate about my work and am motivated by being challenged. Most recently, I led a team of burn professionals to Taiwan to present a weekend long burn rehabilitation conference for the entire country. This conference was in response to a prior mission with the Hopkins Go Team in response to the Formosa Fun Coast water park disaster where 498 young adults were burned. Coordinating international travel, organizing presentations at multiple educational levels while taking into account cultural differences and keeping busy professionals on time with deadlines was extremely challenging. All the work, effort and time was well worth it. It was definitely one the most rewarding things I’ve done professionally.Just recently I began working towards a master’s degree in biotechnology management at UMUC. I’m very interested in tissue engineering; specifically finding a replacement for skin and wound healing. I’m not exactly sure of my future direction, but I’m open to new and challenging opportunities. Please feel free to contact me.
