The Vice President of Academic Affairs is the Senior Executive Academic Leader for the institution. The post is a strategic partner responsible for long-range institutional planning, leading discussions of relevant, viable, innovative and high quality technical and vocational programmes for lifelong learning and quality teaching and engaged learning. The Vice President of Academic Affairs ensures the vision, mission and institution's strategic plan cascade down to all academic departments, operating in unison. She ensures that all programmes meet the quality standards set by accreditation bodies and align with the present and future needs of the students and employers. The Vice President of Academic Affairs partners with institutional colleagues to promote and enhance student access and success; alumni relations and fundraising; efficiency, effectiveness and connections between academic programmes, student experiences and external stakeholders, while providing excellent customer service. The Vice President of Academic Affairs also oversees academic budgets, scheduling, performance assessments, determining faculty workload, the catalogue of the institution and oversight of student disciplinary processes.

Under this structure, during academic year (2015-16), three Co-Deans assumed the responsibilities of the former Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs and reported directly to the President. The Co-Dean position entailed working collectively and collaboratively in a distributed leadership model. To this end, each Co-Dean assumed additional leadership assignments related to the tasks and functions of the Office of Academic Affairs. Key leadership assignments of note related to my role included coordination of various selection committees reviewing annual nominations for teaching and student leadership awards; the Institutional Review Board (for the sixth consecutive year); a Hybrid and Online Committee/Task Force; the Sabbatical and Awards Committee; and the Academic and Deans Councils.

Reporting dually to the President and the Vice President, Academic Affairs, the Dean (07/2012 to 08/2016) served as the leader of the Center's operations in collaboration with the Executive Director (Singapore), Director (Boston), and the Center's staff. With the change in leadership in Singapore resulting in a vacancy (July 2015-January 2016), I assumed direct operational oversight of the Singapore Center as well, including a physical relocation to Singapore for three months in the fall of 2015. In these multiple capacities, I had overall responsibility for managing day-to-day operations and implementing the vision for the Center and its affiliated locations. The Center worked closely with the Office of Academic Affairs, deans, and the faculty to develop and offer innovative international learning experiences overseas and domestically.As Interim Director, International Education, Leadership, and Innovation (07/2010 to 06/2012), I reported dually to the President and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. I had overall responsibility for managing day to day operations and implementing the vision for the Center. An essential task during this term was to recommend a long term management structure and growth plan to the President and Vice President Academic Affairs. This recommendation resulted in the reorganization of the Center and the reclassification of the Director to a Deanship. I was subsequently appointed Dean, International Programs and Partnerships in July 2012.

Reporting to the President, the Vice-President, Research, Graduate Programmes and International Relations supported and facilitated research carried out by faculty at the College and built international partnerships that enhanced the College’s capacity to serve its mission well. The primary mandate of the Vice-President, Research, Graduate Programmes and International Relations was to increase the College’s level of research activity and to create international partnerships that would enhance the academic lives of both faculty and students.

As Chief Academic Officer, I was responsible for overseeing the academic operation of the institution and its campus network.

Given my administrative work in leadership and international education, at The College of The Bahamas (2006-2009), with focus on increasing research activity and accessibility to graduate degrees as well as expand the international opportunities, I articulated important questions about how universities interact on an international scale and about how universities construct both national and international identities. These questions then were at the centre of my sabbatical journey which took me from a partial voyage aboard the MV Explorer, Semester at Sea Program and its many fascinating ports of call (Norfolk, Nova Scotia, Spain, Morocco, Ghana) then onto Boston (Wheelock College), Ohio (Kent State University), West Africa (African University College of Communications), Virginia (University of Virginia) and the United Kingdom (The Bader International Study Centre).

Accreditation and Quality Assurance - Consultant, Quality Assurance Unit and the Curriculum Division, March 2000 - July 2001 Ministry of Education & Youth (The Bahamas); Member of a Working Committee mandated to formalize a proposal and implementation plan for a Quality Assurance Unit to be established by legislation which eventually evolved as the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council (NAECOB) in 2006Curriculum - Consultant, Government of The Bahamas/Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas/Inter-American Development Bank Education Program 848/OCBH March 1999 - February 2000 Ministry of Education & Youth (The Bahamas). It was the first locally appointed consultancy for an internationally funded project. In this role, the consultant worked with the Director of Education, Assistant Directors, District Superintendents, Curriculum Officers, school administrators, and teachers throughout The Bahamas. The study sought to determine the extent to which the Primary Curriculum was consistent with the characteristics of students, the needs of the society, the requirements of secondary education, and the demands of the twenty-first century; the Final Report provided recommendations regarding the revision of the curriculum accordingly

Curriculum Development and Faculty Supervision - Facilitated and supported the work of the Divisions of Business and Administrative Studies; Nursing and Health Sciences; Teacher Education; and Technology through Chairpersons. This work included the development of programs and courses, coordination of course schedules, course outlines, selection of instructional and other curricular methods and materials, and monitoring faculty workloads in New Providence as well as satellite campuses and instructional sites, including the Family Islands of Grand Bahama, Exuma, and EleutheraOutreach and Regional Partnerships/Networking - Served as the Liaison with Ministry of Education and Joint Board of Teacher Education, Mona Jamaica on Teacher Education issues; and served as the Liaison with Ministry of Health on Nursing and Health Sciences issues
