Media EntrepreneurFollowing an accomplished career at a global media company, Alexander brought her media and communication expertise to the military-veteran community as co-founder of We Are The Mighty (WATM), a media and entertainment brand for this community. The military-veteran community makes up one third (114 million) of our country. However, despite their size and our great respect for these men and women, too often they are misunderstood, stereotyped and marginalized. WATM was created to change this narrative and give military-veterans a voice to tell the most authentic, entertaining, and inspirational stories about the military and by the military. Since launching in 2014, WATM has become a recognized media brand for this audience, engaging millions of people daily through digital and traditional media platforms. In addition, the Company’s military insights and expertise help partners and clients have a positive impact on this important demographic while strengthening the relationship between the military, veterans, and civilians. Throughout her more than 25-year career at Viacom, Alexander was a key player in leading the Company’s domestic and international communications strategy for both corporate and consumer-facing initiatives. She was involved in the launch of dozens of channels and related brands around the world including MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1 and Comedy Central as well as generation-defining programming. She was instrumental in Viacom’s expansion into Los Angeles to become a creative powerhouse. Alexander’s father served in the Navy and spent his civilian career supporting and serving the community as a physician at the VA. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Journalism from New York University.
