The Reboot Representation Tech Coalition is a partnership of 21 leading tech companies who have committed over $13M to grantee organizations leading the efforts to close the gender gap in tech for Black, Latina, and Native American (BLNA) women. Reboot spun out of a research report published jointly in September 2018 by McKinsey & Company and Pivotal Ventures, Melinda French Gates’ investment and incubation company. Since 2018, Reboot has been leveraging the power and impact of coordinated, corporate philanthropic efforts and influence to efficiently work towards a specific goal of doubling the number of BLNA women receiving computing bachelor’s degrees by 2025. With the CEO, develop a strategy to support BLNA women entering the workforce and specifically, to connect them to resources and programs sponsored by Reboot Coalition members. Build a collaborative process to operationalize the strategy to drive corporate cultures.

In my role as Vice President of the School of IT, I engaged with community leaders, industry and employers to discuss and understand IT and professional skillsets required from students to enter the workforce. Engagement included in-depth discussions about market demand, trends in the workforce and the need to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. I collaborated with faculty and organizations to create innovative solutions to meet talent demand. I was also responsible for designing new credentials and programs for the school of IT. I partnered with AWS, Apple, Intel, faculty leadership, and other industry leaders to design credentials and change the narrative on what community colleges can offer to the tech industry and to community.
