Previously an Audit Partner with a top ten firm for over 15 years, I am now the Audit Director of leading Leeds-based firm, Brown Butler Chartered Accountants, specialising in owner-managed and overseas-owned businesses, particularly in the product manufacturing, food manufacturing, and property sectors.My experience also includes working with clients with turnovers of up to £220m in the automotive, telematics, IT, hospitality, service industries, as well as government investment funds. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge of acting for the not-for-profit sector, advising a number of charities and social housing organisations from small companies to groups with turnovers over £35million. I have significant experience of pension funds managing a portfolio of clients with assets ranging from £500k to over £1.5bn.On a day to day basis, my role involves appointments acting as either an external or internal auditor. This, together with my previous appointment as a board member for nine years and Chair of the Audit Committee, has given me a thorough understanding of the governance matters and risk appraisals organisations should undertake. I also have experience in the auditing of international companies, groups and AIM listed businesses (requiring liaison with overseas parents and auditors to fulfil the groups’ responsibilities).This experience assists my understanding of complex group arrangements - particularly in the not-for-profit sector where board members are often remote and removed from their organisation’s day to day operations but still have the responsibility for overall governance.As a people-focused accountant first and foremost, my focus remains on assisting the individual needs of my clients and providing valuable experience through the lifecycle of their business.
