Resume Writer / Branch Manager
I've always enjoyed delving into people's backgrounds, finding out what they need/want/have to have, and helping them to achieve their goals. As mentioned before, I'm driven by discovering and then presenting what's unique and special - and valuable - about my clients. Wrote hundreds of résumés, cover letters, bios, thank you letters, reference sheets, and more.Worked closely with people from a wide range of industries and backgrounds, including: * high school and college students seeking summer jobs, internships, and early career opportunities;* people in the middle of their career pursuing their next opportunities, sometimes in completely different fields; and* senior executives - such as CEOs, COOs, and CFOs - seeking new challenges or transitioning into semi-retirement.
Staff Development Manager & Newsletter Editor
Interestingly - at least to me - this job came about thanks to Jeffrey Hull. He's a former IT recruiter who went on to earn a PhD, become a noted life coach, and is teaching a class at HARVARD.Towards the end of my own grad schooling, I learned of a group Jeff had formed of about 10 people in HR grad programs across New York City to help them explore what they wanted to do and in what setting. Eventually, he said that there was a job working 50% for him doing staff development and 50% for the practice group's marketing director.* Wrote technical and humorous articles for award-winning newsletter.* Developed corporate bios for consultants - partners through summer associates - as well as lighthearted mini-bios for the newsletter section welcoming new team members. (A fun assignment - samples available!)* Worked closely with senior partner, director of operations, and human resources task force to develop strategic programs, including performance management and mentoring.* Created documents sent out by senior partner, including a human resources survey, which I also helped administer.* Planned and administered survey; and analyzed, summarized, and disseminated results. * Assisted recruiting staff with events aimed at increasing candidate acceptance rate.* Acclimated new staff to firm through orientations and office tours - and was the keeper of the ITG mugs and pens, ostensibly for clients, which - when coaxed - I gave to practically anyone who asked.* Contributed to production of brochures, conferences, and promotions. Got to travel to Arizona twice and stay in luxury hotels because we were setting up and managing events.* And, while playing on their softball team in Central Park, in a momentary lapse of judgement, I damaged a finger in a failed attempt to break up a play (which the ump preferred to call "obstruction"); and then, in the ER, my doctor was a college classmate with whom I'd also gone to camp!
Customer Service Supervisor
Wow - did I love this job. Fast-paced, creative problem-solving ability tested daily, terrific team - the entire White Papers Group rocked - and moving to Memphis at the same time as all those people who became some of my best friends! What did I actually do? First, I was a Customer Service Rep and then got promoted and: * Supervised and trained five-person customer service team responsible for handling over $250 million/year in orders.* Conceived of "Bank on Bristols" slogan used widely throughout billion-dollar business unit for several years. (Clearly this last item was a sign of things - and copywriting - to come!)
