Since I was a kid, I wanted to be a writer - and a firefighter. Whenever anyone asked me, "What are you going to do with an English degree?" I told them I was going to become a writer. When people asked me about my backup plan, I told them I didn't have one. I dig playing without a safety net. As a journalist with over a decade of experience, I have worked in all aspects of media and been involved with every stage of the editorial process. I've covered everything from winter surfing, natural disasters and the importance of honeybees, to the life and high times of one of the biggest drug smugglers in American history. I'm always on the lookout for the next great story. I do not believe that journalism is disappearing, but changing - and I'm so happy to be along for the ride.I've also been known to put out the occasional fire.
