I am an experienced private corporate and healthcare independent director. I've worked in eight industries and in a dozen different functions. I have served as an independent director on private corporate, healthcare, and not-for-profit boards and chaired 6 of them. I've driven growth in organizations through start-up, fast scale, IPO, pivot, and exit (in one firm, all of these!). Yet throughout my blissfully twisted career, my unique power has been the same: Ask questions that help leaders envision an ideal future and then reverse engineer and make the financial, operational, and cultural decisions needed to create it. Today I split my time between governance and engaged philanthropy. I'm most at home collaborating and surrounded by transformation; there is still so much value and justice to be unleashed.Corporate Work Highlights: After my first executive role at 28 leading manufacturing & operations for a global sole source supplier to 3M, I served 25 years driving operating results with firms ranging from start-up to $1 billion dollars. In seven successive roles over 9 years at Deluxe Corporation, I earned the nickname “Build This; Fix That” leader from the company’s President. As General Merchandise Manager at a “buy and build” consumer firm, I helped identify, acquire and integrate 27 companies, take the firm public at $200 million, and when the market for the sector slid 40%, restructure and achieve a successful exit. Later, I co-founded and partnered to lead Aveus, a boutique yet global consulting firm that is now a division of (acquired by) Medecision. In 15 years with Aveus I led client engagements in the US and Europe, and personally worked with executives in more than 100 companies – public and private - across most major industries and markets.
