During my management, SoFA (now known as TIDC) was considered Canada's leading trade design centre showcasing home furnishings from domestic and international manufacturers. The 200,000 sq. ft. space offered an unparalleled portfolio of over 40 showrooms and a 3,000 sq. ft. Resource Centre that met the needs of design professionals by providing targeted solutions and access to endless inspiration. As the Marketing and Managing Director, I was responsible for the success and growth of the manufacturers' businesses that considered SoFA their home. The key to my success is the simple principle of listening and understanding what matters to clients, knowing the why of a business and then developing marketing strategies accordingly. I was directly involved with business growth, strategically planning and executing marketing and communications, operations, and client relations with a hands-on appoarch. I continuously developed and effectively promoted events that positioned SoFA as an industry leader. Aligned with national and international associations, I am an advocate for the interior design industry and their associated trades. I regularly attended domestic and international trade shows to gain industry insight and leverage opportunities. I was proactive at the High Point Market (North America's largest furnishing trade show), connected with 12 of the most influential design centres from across the USA and have held a long-standing Board position with the Canadian Decorators' Association. In 2016 I was elected to the Board of the Interior Designers of Canada as the Director of Industry. As a result, my efforts created a competitive advantage for SoFA, bringing in over 4,000 designers yearly, forged new partnerships and developed strong association alliances. Tenants reported measurable growth and record sales despite economic market conditions. In 2018 SoFA was rebranded as Toronto International Design Centre to reflect the business of new tenants.
