The Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory (SUPL) is a unique ultra-low radiation facility, located 1km underground in a gold mine in Stawell, western Victoria (Australia). SUPL is poised to accelerate important scientific research and associated outcomes, especially in fundamental physics and quantum technologies, and to enhance Australia’s global research leadership and opportunities to collaborate with critical partners internationally.

Consulting to the ARDC to establish a National Persistent Identifier (PID) Strategy and accompanying implementation Roadmap through extensive sector consultation and engagement across the national research and innovation ecosystem.

Linda O'Brien was appointed as Pro Vice Chancellor and Head of Logan Campus in September 2017, having previously been Pro Vice Chancellor (Information Services) since October 2008. As Head of Logan Campus Linda is committed to maintaining Logan campus’s deep, mutually beneficial connections with the broader community to create work-ready graduates, deliver impactful research and foster opportunities for local innovation. As University Librarian Linda is passionate about the value of information as the foundation for learning, research and innovation. She is engaged in a number international and national initiatives aimed at leveraging innovative information technologies to make research outputs and data more findable, accessible, interoperable and useable. Linda has published and presented, both nationally and internationally, and contributed to a number of state and national initiatives. Linda is currently a board member of Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) and of the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation, Chair of the Open Data Institute Australia Network and a member of the Queensland Public Records Review Committee.

As Pro Vice Chancellor Linda is a member of the University executive with responsibility for development and implementation of Griffith’s information strategy and management of the University's information services; including the e-learning and e-research services, the Library, corporate records services, and University-wide information and communication technology services, systems and infrastructure. Griffith, a university of approximately 43,000 students, is uniquely positioned, providing all University scholarly information and technology services through a single division.

ORCID is a nonprofit organization helping create a world in which all who participate in research, scholarship and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions and affiliations, across disciplines, borders, and time. It is governed by a Board of Directors. As Chair I represent the Board to ORCID members and lead the Board in its governance functions.

The Vice-Principal, Information is a member of the University's Senior Executive Team supporting the Vice-Chancellor in the overall strategic planning, management and administration of the University with particular responsibilities as Chief Information Officer. The Vice-Principal is the primary source of strategic and policy advice to the University on knowledge management strategies, strategic directions for the provision of library and information technology services, provision of advanced computing for academic purposes, support for administrative information systems, best practice in learning management systems, IT and AV services to support teaching spaces, provision of information and communication technology infrastructure and management of the University's websites.

The Vice-President is a member of the University executive with key accountability for the University’s corporate services across all campuses of the University. This encompasses University-wide leadership, strategic planning, policy and management of the following functions for the University: governance and records management, student administration, student services, human resource management, finance, facilities management, libraries, information technology, teaching support, marketing, media and community relations. The University’s Planning and Business Improvement unit, which includes the equity and diversity unit, also reports directly to the Vice-President.The Vice-President is also Secretary to the University’s governing body, the Council.

Member of the senior management team within the University, contributed to the fulfilment of the University’s vision, mission and goals with particular responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high quality, customer-focussed, cost-effective education, information and technology services. Represented the University and managed the relationships with relevant external bodies including those involved with distance/flexible learning, library and information services and information technology services and systems (the University’s nominee on Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL), Council of Australian University Directors of Information Technology (CAUDIT), UNISON and the National Council of Distance Educators (NCODE – now ACODE)).
