In 2018, I created the initiative "Lielas rūpes par mazajiem" (www.lielasrupes.lv) that provides support to children from orphanages, care institutions and large families who arrive at the Children's Clinical University Hospital (Riga, Latvia) all alone. Since 2018, the initiative has provided the presence of a loving nanny for more than 250 children who otherwise would most likely have been alone. Creating a new service like this I had to apply and develop different kinds of skills - starting with written communication and face-to-face meetings with people of various levels, representatives of organizations and institutions, to create new service and it's operating mechanisms, drawing up a training plan, personell selection, formation and coordination of documents, supply of necessary things, collective management and team building, organization and management of events, fundraising and others.

My daily work included communication with persons who were considering or had already made the decision to welcome a child from a care institution into their family. I supported them on this path, provided information on available legal statuses and their differences , organized individual and group meetings, events. At the same time I worked on helping children who were in institutions to meet their host families.

My responsibilities included activities that would promote the involvement of civil society in the Kurzeme region - organizing joint events, going to kindergartens with lectures about the country and its understanding according to age, a large part of my work consisted of collecting information and preparing articles, publishing them so that the organizations in the Kurzeme region would learn about civil society news and project competitions. Assisting in the implementation, selection, evaluation and acceptance of state-delegated project tenders.
