Linda Pulley Freeman is a National Geographic Explorer and committed to inspiring under-resourced urban youth to embrace science through hands-on, outdoor STEM education. She began her career as an environmental engineer with the U.S. Department of Energy in 1986 after completing her M.S. in environmental engineering at Stanford University and a B.S. in chemical engineering at the University of Michigan. Since 1999, Linda has been the Executive Director of the Peacemaker Family Center (PFC) at Trinity Church in Miami Gardens, Florida. PFC is a one of a kind, faith-based, award-winning, non-profit organization with a primary focus on positive youth development. In 2016, Linda created the GEN2050 program, an innovative youth development program for students in 4th-12th grade. This year-round program engages students in intensive learning environments designed to inspire and prepare them for entrepreneurship, self-leadership, environmental stewardship, and STEM. In May 2019, she became a National Geographic Explorer, focusing on informal science education entitled “Bats, Bees, and Butterflies” located in Redland, Florida. In July 2022, Linda began to develop the GEN2050 STEAM Modules project, enlisting fellow National Geographic Explorer, Anne Haywood, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Biscayne National Park, and existing partners as co-curriculum developers. GEN2050 STEAM modules are in development to replicate the GEN2050 program in youth development programs beginning June 2023. Linda is also a doctoral student pursuing an Ed.D. at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Community Fellow Provider Representative for the The Academy 2015-2016. Chosen through a competitive process, will represent Trinity Church-Peacemaker Family Center by working collectively with a designated Trinity Church member as the Community Fellowship Provider-Consumer Pair, during a 9-month fellowship, as members of The Academy’s Research Team. The Academy’s purpose is to create opportunities for sustained health policy research, training, and community healthcare. Its objective is to translate knowledge of the social predictors of health outcomes into “real-world” applications among an expanded network of healthcare and social service providers. The Community Fellows’ duties include participation in trainings related to policy analysis, as well as the completion of a policy analysis project related to identified needs of Trinity Church-Peacemaker Family Center programs and initiatives and the core policy analysis project for The Academy. The outcomes of the work done by the research team will result in local or organizational-level policy recommendations aimed at broadening and refining the ways community stakeholders collaborate with healthcare systems to improve health outcomes.

Primary duties included environmental safety engineer, environmental restoration and waste management project manager for $40 Million in project activities, operational safety group supervisor. Activities directed towards managing operations at the Department of Energy Chicago Operations Office laboratory contracting organizations: Argonne National Laboratory, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Princeton, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Ames Laboratory. Collateral duties include serving as a trainer/facilitator in the areas of leadership, customer focus, total quality management, and creative thinking. Certified facilitator for both the Covey Leadership Center course, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” and the Kaset International course, “Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations.” From 1994 to 1997, trained approximately 225 Department of Energy employees in those two subject areas. Prepared training curriculum for training sessions on effective meeting skills, process mapping, and other Total Quality Management topics.
