In doing so, I bring to bear over 20 years of experience representing companies in intellectual property, employment, real estate and oil and gas disputes. Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher is a global law firm with more than 1100 lawyers in 18 offices across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.As an associate in the employment section at GD&C, I was responsible for supporting our partners in the defense of a wide variety of employment disputes, including claims of discrimination, noncompete enforcement, and unfair labor practices. I also worked with wonderful general litigators on contract matters.It was during my time at GD&C that I learned to appreciate a finely-crafted legal argument, earning me a reputation as a writing nerd. I also deepened my commitment to service to the poor while at GD&C, where I first signed up to do pro bono work for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program.

The Northern District of Texas is a federal judicial district that encompass nearly 96,000 square miles in northern and western Texas. It serves more than seven million residents in 100 counties, handling both criminal and civil matters over which the federal courts have jurisdiction.In my first year out of law school, I had the privilege of serving as a Law Clerk to Judge Fitzwater, where I received an insider's view of what works and what doesn't when appearing in federal court. It was a great opportunity to see the inner workings of our court system, and to put my legal education to practical use. I was responsible for seeing that pending motions were resolved in a timely, fair, and principled manner. By the conclusion of my clerkship, I was moving more than 20 motions each month off the Court's docket.
