The International REC Standard (I-REC) aims to spread the principles of energy attribute tracking systems worldwide, to promote a consistent and verifiable product that enables a reliable and transparent consumer choice for renewable electricity.• An I-REC Standard energy attribute tracking certificate is a reliable product that transparently delivers the energy and environmental attributes from an electricity producer to the ultimate end user of the attributes.• I-REC Standard certificates are applicable for use in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol scope 2 carbon accounting guidelines and the CDP sustainability surveys, among others.• The I-REC Standard certificate is the only contractual instrument that carries all environmental rights, including carbon, nitrogen oxides and water use related to a specific MWh of electricity production.

RECS International has worked since 2001 to improve and simplify the system of tracked electricity, the certificates used in that system and the claims consumers can make after their certificate purchases.

The ECOHZ Renewable Energy Foundation is an independent foundation with an objective to work to accelerate construction of new renewable power plants.The foundation shall through loans or other financing mechanisms, contribute to realization of renewable projects lacking top financing. The projects will be located in Europe and based on wind, hydro, solar, geothermal or biomass. Loans shall not constitute more than 15 % of the total project-costs, be granted on commercial terms and be repaid to the foundation. The projects shall undergo quality assurance, technically and financially, to ensure profitable and efficient investments. The foundation works on a non-profit basis.
