BOOST is a space where newcomers find their resilience en acquire or strengthen the skills, insight and contacts needed to participate in society. The programme aims to offer a safety net to those who need it, and a springboard for those who are ready for the next steps. As programme manager, I ensure that the activities offered at BOOST contribute to the forward dynamic. To do so, I:• Guide and support a team of paid staff and volunteers in the implementation and coordination of the programme. • Keep sight of the needs of the participants by engaging in conversation and asking for feedback. • Monitor the quality and impact of the programme, and respond adequately when necessary.• Welcome and stimulate initiatives from newcomers by offering a place and needed support. • Build and maintain connections with (partner)organisations in the city and find synergy and collaboration in the programme where suitable.• Contribute to finding and responding to financial opportunities that suit our vision.

Sungai Project aims to raise awareness on the diversity of human- and wildlife in Melaka, Malaysia. Our mission is to reconnect people with themselves, others and nature.Responsibilities:• Guided the project design.• Organised regular activities such as beach clean-ups and awareness adventures.• Contributing to content creation and course facilitation.

Same Skies co-designs community-led initiatives and provides training and mentoring for refugees who take ownership of these projects. Responsibilities: • Managed Southeast Asian operations, including the coordination, accounting, support and supervision of local teams. • Developed, reviewed and facilitated training (materials) on managerial and entrepreneurial topics for refugee groups. • Provided monthly mentoring sessions to team members of refugee-led initiatives.• Coordinated Transformative Leadership in Action.• Drafted external research proposals and project proposals for funding opportunities.• Contributed to data collection and analysis, and compilation of reports for research projects, assessments and evaluation (internal and external).• Organised events in collaboration with local teams and gave presentations to raise awareness of the refugee topic and engage potential supporters and collaborators.

Transformative Leadership in Action is a seven-month action-based learning programme.A group of diverse participants study online, and co-create a refugee-led project.Responsibilities:• Drew up training plans, managed and facilitated said training to nurture strengthening of project design and management capacities of participants.• Prepared, conducted and evaluated community consultations to monitor and review the progress. • Strategically planned and developed training units for the Same Skies leadership programme, continuously responding to the needs of the participant team.• Provided guidance and mentoring to the participant team, especially on (remote) team work, project design and project implementation of community-led activities. • Coordinated logistics and administration.

Established and managed a food truck selling Caribbean-inspired goat meat dishes atfestivals. My mission was to advocate for more use of this product.

Volunteered with local Red Cross to support refugee youngsters. Responsibilities:• Buddy to an unaccompanied minor (AMV) living in Amsterdam. Provided support on understanding Dutch rules and regulations relevant to a nearly 18-year old finding their place in Dutch society.

Responsibilities:• Contributed to after school support for children and youngsters living in the asylum centre in Katwijk. Spent time in the living room for fun and games, kept an eye on the weekly dance class, and provided support or advice on needs basis.

• Conducted research, produced reporting and wrote articles on the agency of Rohingya refugees in Aceh, Sumatra, especially focusing on their onward migration. • Collaborated with a local team in providing and evaluating support on needs-basis at the refugee camps.

• Contributed to research focused on questions around the position of migrants within the Maltese society, including (ethnic) profiling and discrimination, SGBV• Conducted interviews with recently arrived refugees.

• Provided guidance to high school students on choosing a college education, by preparing and facilitating presentations on different study programmes, which courses to take during their high school to prepare for that, and studying in general.

Responsibilities:• Strengthened the connections with high schools throughout the country, promoting and scheduling presentations on study programmes for students 12th grade and up. • Prepared presentations and supported a team of instructors in the facilitation of these presentations at high schools.

• Contributed to the organisation and facilitation of twelve provincial debates leading up to, as well as, the “Nationaal Jeugddebat” in the House of Representatives with different ministers on current topics.• Provided support and training to a group of former participants in their role as mentors (ages 17-20).

• Contributed to fundraising, sourcing educational supplies, lesson planning and maintaining relationships with partner organisation Children To School Project Ghana. • Travelled to Ghana for 8 weeks to provide support to local schools with extra-curricular activities including the launch of a (mobile) library, reading club, sports, and training in first aid.
