About Johan Lindh

I am in the field of eukaryotic microbiology, especially human parasites. I am trained as a molecular parasitologist and have my major interest within tropical medicine. Within my group we have performed several research projects regarding different zoonotic parasites found within the human intestine and in blood. These projects are in collaboration with colleagues in mainly Mosambique, Uganda and Nicaragua. The scope of our research is mainly development of different diagnostic techniques together with vaccine development. In order to obtain results are we both working with modern molecular techniques as well as more classic microscopic methods. I have also been teaching in several different university courses. Examples of fields where I have been teaching are: molecular biology, cell biology and microbiology.As a parasitologist have I also been a project leader in several different projects and head of the Parasitology Department, Swedish Institute for Infectious Diseases Control. I’m currently working with production of a vaccine towards polio, phase 1.
