My twenty-year career has been focused on branding systems; creating identities that surprise and challenge businesses about who they are while also clarifying their message. These systems have to look amazing, that’s table stakes, but I believe that the most successful ones are built upon concepts and ideas rather than just pretty pictures. When companies understand why they look, talk, and walk the way they do, the better they can own and execute their brand. I subscribe to no aesthetic school or set rules for design. Design is an open-ended, evolving space to experiment with type, color, layout, mood, styling, and imagery. Emotions should be triggered by beautiful design and supported by intelligent thinking.
