I recently completed a Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and Northwestern University. I am incredibly passionate about treating individuals after a neurologic injury or disease to help them regain their independence. During my time as a clinician and resident, I have gained valuable clinical reasoning and psychosocial skills that have made me a stronger practitioner, able to treat any patient while providing optimal care through evidence-based strategies. I have also realized my love for teaching physical therapy students and guiding them through connecting pathophysiology to movement dysfunction. I aspire to be actively involved in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program to pay it forward, and help train the next generation of therapists throughout my career.While volunteering with a special needs dance class in high school, I had the opportunity to witness how adapting movement through dance can make someone feel strong, accomplished, and excited. I want to combine my passion for dance with my knowledge of physical therapy to treat patients with neurologic conditions by creating an adaptive dance curriculum. The goal of this program would be to use dance as a rehabilitation method to make physical activity a more positive and creative experience.
