I manage a directorate who mission is to conduct inspections and evaluations (I&E) on the efficiency and effectiveness of EPA and grantees programs receiving Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funds. I ensure that my directorate (1) targets resources effectively by using a data-driven approach to identify, prioritize, and execute I&Es on the highest-risk program areas, and (2) produces timely and impactful reports with findings and recommendations that comply with CIGIE Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluation and internal EPA OIG requirements. To execute this mission, I manage all directorate operations and oversee the work of 3 supervisors and 17 multi-disciplinary staff (or approximately six I&E teams at any given time). In doing so, I provide them with expert coaching, technical advice, and overall project management guidance. To maintain high levels of productivity and team morale in a post-pandemic work environment, I focus on developing and executing novel strategies to manage my geographically decentralized staff. I also focus on proactive outreach and engagement with external entities to develop and maintain collegial working relationships, and to identify emerging issues facing entities receiving IIJA funds.
