I help businesses across all sectors engage their least engaged staff. Our aging society brings huge challenges yet huge opportunities. It’s no secret that many over 50s, who currently form 30% of the workforce, are disengaged at work. Now we have 5 generations at work with amazingly different skills, I work with businesses to capitalise on the business opportunities this economic climate brings. For UK businesses, productivity is a buzzword that urgently needs to be addressed. In the face of imminent skills shortages, it’s time to consider why 50% of people retiring are under pension age and why many Gen Ys and Zs want to move on. It’s time to manage people according to their different needs and in a way that maximises their engagement; uses all their knowledge and skills; tackles closet ageism and supports over 50s psychologically as well as financially when they are considering their future. At this key life stage, many over 50s are seeking meaning and purpose in their lives (key to longevity, fulfillment and happiness). I work with individuals and in-house with groups of over 50s who are considering their next steps. Many don’t want to leave but feel they have little choice. I help them confront issues at work with confidence and resilience and make choices that will ensure they are happy at work. I have a genuine interest in people and my wealth of experience, enthusiasm for my work, and a liberal sprinkling of fun and humour, means I build relationships quickly with the people I work with, so we can find high-quality creative solutions together.I, like many of my generation, want my next steps in life to be fulfilling and enjoyable. I’m on a challenging and exciting journey. I've been in the big job, had the breaks, done the voluntary work and now I'm on the 4th step of my career .... and loving it. And, who'd have thought, I’d be discussing Brexit as a regular contributor on BBC1 Breakfast TV following the referendum on 23 June 2016.I am pursuing my passion. If you're looking for a speaker on this topic, look no further.

Spurred on by frustration at work or a desire to change an unrewarding life, many choose redundancy or retire early. Many are stressed, even depressed, by being treated differently than younger colleagues. Some can't find the flexibility they need. Some no longer have the satisfaction they had from work and engagement just goes. So, leaving, often before they (or their employers) are ready, is seen as the best alternative. Stepping into "retirement" without a plan often means finding themselves in a place they didn't expect and don't want. The Next Steps works with businesses to help them understand how• ageism and assumptions, often unconscious, impacts the mental health of more mature workers• working effectively with a multi-generational workforce increases staff satisfaction and productivity • supporting people to live well after work positively impacts the business and the economy We work with individuals 1-2-1 or in groups in the workplace who are considering leaving work and help them consider “what’s next” and to understand • their responsibility to communicate their needs to their employer and initiate support• how to manage the critical transition away from work, both psychologically and financially, in a planned way • how to identify their options, make choices and, with self-belief and confidence, contribute to the community and society and create a sense of purpose and control over their lives. Lindsay, an expert in her field, has worked with hundreds of over 50s. She received an award from HRH Prince Charles at St James Palace for her work with people over 50. She and her extraordinarily skilled associates are passionate about people aging well at work and beyondWe also work with trade unions. Let's start a conversation today. Show less

The Prince's Charity sought to prepare people aged 50 to 64 to set up and successfully run their own businesses. The focus was predominantly on unemployed people or people who have been made redundant and offered them access to a comprehensive accredited program covering all business processes from start-up to growth. I am passionate about what I do. People who set up their own businesses later in life are very brave and deserve help from the enterprise and local communities. Start-ups drive economic health for the country. I am very proud and honoured to have represented PRIME at the Queens Diamond Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace in 2013 and to receive an award personally from HRH Prince Charles at St James's Palace for the work I did with PRIME.
