Lindsay Smith, a Registered Architect and LEED Accredited Professional, joined Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects (SM+H) in 2000. Lindsay has depth of experience managing and designing all phases of major civic and institutional projects for various Universities, the US General Services Administration and the New York City Department of Design and Construction, among other institutions.Lindsay led the design team for The Ohio State University Energy Advancement and Innovation Center (EAIC) Visionary Study and building design. Key innovative aspects of the EAIC design an iconic building envelope with photovoltaic canopy and a unique DC-microgrid to support research toward a Carbon-free future. Providing holistic design leadership from design phases through project closeout, Lindsay is currently overseeing the final stages of construction, interior and furniture fit out for the EAIC project. Lindsay is the Principal in Charge of the New Land Port of Entry at Rouses Point NY, the first project funded by the Bi-partisan Infrastructure Law for the US General Services Administration. The 5-acre facility includes 4 structures across a 5-acre campus site and will be a LEED gold, all electric facility with geothermal heat pump systems and roof-mounted photovoltaic array.Lindsay’s past experience includes leading the design team for the completed $100 million US Land Port of Entry at Champlain, NY and serving as the border station design advisor for the $55 Million US Land Port of Entry at Massena, NY. Additionally, Lindsay led the SM+H design team for the new US Land Port of Entry at Detroit as part of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.Lindsay also led the team for a Master Plan design for the Fort Totten Training Academies project in Queens for the NYC Department of Design and Construction. The conceptual Master Plan envisions the revitalization of important NYC Landmarked buildings through newly conceived additions and renovations. The masterplan incorporated LEED Gold sustainability initiatives including a district-wide geothermal well system. As a LEED accredited professional, Lindsay is experienced in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders with high sustainable and resiliency goals. She is experienced in leading multi-disciplinary design and consultant teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.Lindsay received her Bachelor of Architectural History from the University of Virginia and her Master of Architecture with distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
