Elected to organization at the height of lockdowns, we were presented with the challenge of how to survive as a) a performing arts group, b) a group raising money for public schools when schools in our area were shut down until 2021, and c) a group that welcomes children performers and attendees when vaccines weren't available for most children until the fall of 2021. Here's what we did:• Addressed fixed costs, finding a new venue and engaging in several new sponsor partnerships• Increased participation by engaging with recurring and new community through several new event initiatives• Contributed over $15,000 to the arts in public schools, empowering remote and hybrid students in our district with a more robust arts educationBy our 2022/23 production, we had returned to pre-pandemic participation levels at a reduced, overhead cost to the non-profit and increased community participation and buy-in, enjoying our most successful fiscal year ever.
