If you had asked me as a college student what I hoped to do, I probably would have told you I wanted to become a graphic designer. Looking back, however, I see that graphic design was just the sandbox where I discovered my true passions for sales, entrepreneurship, and cultivating strong relationships. Selling is in my blood. Growing up, my dad owned his own business with two other partners and played the role of lead sales rep. No matter how busy he was, he always made time to cheer me on at my soccer games. To this day, I look to my dad’s example of hard work and flexibility as a template for good business. My own sales and entrepreneurial journey began at the age of six when I sold boiled hot dogs 🌭 and lemonade 🍋 at the end of my street. (Funny AND true!) Despite my early start, it was years before I continued a path in sales + eventually entrepreneurship.Within my first six months of selling ink on paper (think Dunder Mifflin, but printing), I exceeded my annual sales goal. I figured, if I could successfully sell more than $1M of custom manufacturing (during a recession, no less!), I could probably sell anything. I spent the next few years saying “yes” to every open door and learned as much as I could. After my time in printing ran its course, I took my hand in selling SaaS for a tech start-up, then launched the first expansion of a boutique consulting firm. I discovered not only an aptitude for sales but also a love of it. Nothing was more satisfying than helping my clients achieve their goals. In 2016, I launched my company, McMillion Consulting—in many ways the culmination of my experience. Now, I leverage my training, speaking, sales, and leadership expertise to help my clients connect with purpose. As a person of faith, I know God was in the details of my story along the way, preparing me to serve and support clients through my business today.
