The first full-time, dedicated product designer at Ruffwear, providing market-leading product design and contributing to the creation of an inspiring brand image, helping the company grow from two to 15 million in annual sales over a nine-year tenure.Performed the steps to bring 10+ new and redesigned products to market per year: from managing a collaborative design brief process, to delivering production-quality samples, and everything in between. Examples include product research, brainstorming, sketching, physical design, design presentations, materials development, print design, tech pack creation, sample development in the US and Asia, color palette development, fit testing, functional testing, pattern development, size grading, and packaging design.Designed and developed a huge variety of products, materials, and components. Examples include apparel, backpacks, footwear, webbing, rope, buckles, metal hardware and fabrics. Specific attention to design, fit and color significantly evolved the product line and helped create the internationally-recognized brand it is today.On the brand side, notable contributions included managing in-studio product photoshoots, creating a photography style guide, technical product copywriting, and a redesign of the Ruffwear logo.

Created a unique Adobe Illustrator class that centered around using vector art in the physical world: each student created their own artwork which was then laser-engraved onto a Hydro Flask water bottle. Created a course format that combined lecture with 1-on-1 assistance, breaking down a complex topic into small, achievable tasks, with a clear and rewarding goal in a four-week time frame.

Focused on identifying materials that would be suitable for each individual project, including material innovation, trends, and sustainability.Researched new, innovative materials and presented them to a monthly jury for inclusion in the library archives. Worked with material manufacturers to coordinate sample shipments and ensure accurate contact information and pricing for library members to utilize. Coordinated with Materials Specialists at other Material ConneXion libraries in Milan, Cologne, and Bangkok to maintain their collections.
