I am the founder of Zyp BikeShare in Birmingham, AL which is the first electric pedal-assist bikeshare system in the Western Hemisphere and 5th in the world. I was integrally involved in analyzing the feasibility and developing the proposed implementation plan for Zyp Bikeshare while serving as the Deputy Director of Operations at the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB). I spearheaded the fundraising efforts that made Zyp BikeShare a reality, which involved raising $4.6 million dollars in federal, foundation, and private sponsorship funds. I maneuvered through multi-layered requirements and challenges to launch Zyp and to ensure a sustainable foundation for the system, such as Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funding requests, Federal Transit Authority (FTA) funding requests, bikeshare vendor procurement and contracting, continual public involvement, right of way agreements, station selections, site engineering and permitting requirements, and design review. Furthermore, I have executed all facets of actually operating a year-round 24/7 bike share system with the amazing Zyp team I recruited.

I managed the public initiatives and public affairs for RPCGB. This consists of managing a roughly $10M annual budget and 20+ employees for programs such as CommuteSmart Birmingham, Alabama Partners for Clean Air (APCA), Elderly and Disabled Medicaid Waiver and 530 HIV/AIDS Waiver programs. In addition, I worked on Pop-Up Projects and Revive with Rev Birmingham in 2013. I spearheaded the development of Birmingham Bikeshare for the downtown area. Finally, I am a member of the Leadership ICMA Class of 2015 and worked on a human services Capstone project for the City of Tacoma, WA.
